The Story behind "Oranges can be Blu"
BluPurpose
At BluNaranja, we want to step away from the “fast fashion way of doing things” where common fashion style is predicated to us and where unsustainable mass produced fashion is the norm.
We believe that small is beautiful, that we should take care of our planet and free up expression of style and personality.
A world where everyone feels free to express their personal quirkiness and be their true self, would be more diverse, more interesting and human spirits would be liberated.
At BluNaranja, we believe that Oranges can be Blu!
BluDesign
Our style is inspired by sea and sun vibes, with a blend of vibrant happy colors and simple but little quirky graphic design elements to trigger a spontaneous feeling of happiness.
Our BluLimited series are meant to be a springboard for young designers, sourced out of our brand community, the BluArtist.
BluConscious
Our sustainability commitment
Stepping away from the “fast fashion” way of doing things also means that our products are premium quality to endure over time and are made with respect for both people and planet.
As such, we make deliberate and conscious choices about what materials to use, who we work with and how we work.
This is our way of contributing to a more sustainable world and drive a positive change in the fashion industry as a whole.
This also means BluNaranja is not looking to offer the cheapest “fast fashion” products. The nature and high quality of the materials used for our products, in combination with sustainable and fair production is just not compatible with the lowest price.
Eco-friendly materials
We favour organic or recycled materials that care for your skin and the environment.
We are using only 100% organic cotton because for us, using conventional cotton can never be justified from a sustainability perspective.
Today, conventional cotton represents 2% of the cultivated ground on earth but it represents a massive 17% of world's chemical pesticides use, a hazard to both people and bio-diversity.
100% of the organic cotton we use is GOTS-certified, which implies that it has grown without the use of chemical fertilisers or pesticides, thereby ensuring we create a safe environment for farmers and their families.
Fair Wear
Our garments are proudly made in Bangladesh and we are 100% transparent about it. We are convinced that manufacturing in Asia can be a good thing, if done properly.
Properly means respecting the rights of the men and women that are employed, ensuring dignified working conditions and fair wages for the people making our clothes. It means giving them the means to acquire new skills and to receive education and training. Alls of our partner factories are audited and certified by the Fair Wear Foundation.
